The Friends of Oswego County Hospice has set the date for the 16th annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta. The Summer Solstice themed event will be held on June 20 at the Oswego Yacht Club/International Marina. Plans for the day-long event, which raised more than $21,000 in 2014, and more than $300,000 total since its inception, are well under way.
Mexico students excitedly waited in line to get the autograph of former NASA astronaut Story Musgrave at a recent STEM presentation held at the Mexico Middle School. 80-year-old Musgrave is the perfect example of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) applied in life.
Because I am not an expert on the ethics laws of other states and because neither the governor nor the legislature has held public hearings regarding what needs to be done to strengthen the state’s ethics laws, it is hard to opine as to the veracity of the Governor’s statement. I am skeptical of the claim however in light of the fact that we have passed “landmark” ethics reform in the recent past and yet ethical lapses by elected officials continue to occur.
