“At YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, we are focusing on health and education to ensure fewer children are at an increased risk for childhood obesity and more children succeed in school,” said Lynnet Lamb, child care director, Fulton Family YMCA. “But it’s not just a single day of fun, active play and learning – it’s a kick off to helping parents get a jump on creating a healthier summer.”
Nonprofits big and small received grants totaling $410,000 from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation in the first of three 2015 grant rounds at its March board meeting. Projects reach a wide range of people and organizations that focus on education, community revitalization, economic growth, nutrition and fitness, and capital campaigns.

Lee White Maritime Museum committee felt it needed some fresh ideas in order to make the “Love Our Lighthouse” as successful as can be. The two seniors of the group are Chris Urato and Jack Gonzalez along with Audrey Diaz and Haliegh O’Sullivan who are both juniors.
For the past 35 years, the college has welcomed public attendance at the daylong conference. Presentations, demonstrations, scholarly posters and artwork exhibitions are free, and will take place in the Marano Campus Center and the nearby Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation. Parking on campus that day is free.

Joseph McManus has been named assistant vice president/computer operations manager at Pathfinder Bank, according to Dan Phillips, chief information officer.
Karen Ann Pittsley was born May 2, 1949, and died in her home after a long illness, on Friday April 3, 2015, at the age of 65.
