DAWN, Oswego’s Democratic Action Women’s Network, is sponsoring a “Hump Day Dance Party.” It has been a long cold winter and now it’s time to jump into celebrating summer and get a headstart on Memorial Day weekend.
A witness called 911 after seeing two or three juveniles set fire to a pile of mulch in a vacant lot of the former Fitzgibbon’s Boiler Works site Sunday afternoon. In order to fully extinguish the fire, the mulch pile had to be spread out with a bobcat, then doused with water.
Last year’s Bridge Street Run seemed to be the event to end all others, and apparently it did. To combat participation in the BSR this year, SUNY Oswego’s Student Association Programming Board and the Student Association created OzFest. OzFest and the concert not only kept most students on campus, but also reduced the number of participants in Bridge Street Run dramatically.
Many Fulton residents have noticed the abundant amount of large Riccelli trucks traveling through the city causing curiosity and concerns to rise. A concerned member of the community brought up these large trucks making frequent trips through town at the most recent city council meeting. The individual brought forward worries of damage to city roads due to the weight and the size of the trucks on the narrow street of West First Street South.
Nina B. Caruso, 94, a lifelong resident of Oswego, peacefully passed away on Saturday May 9, 2015, in her Bishops Commons apartment.
Starting from the eighth position, Sitterly snared the lead from his teammate for the night, Joe Gosek, on a lap 28 restart and never looked back on route to his 31st overall victory at the ‘Steel Palace’, breaking a tie with Mike Ordway to stand alone in ninth on the Speedway’s all-time win list.
Oswego Speedway was built on the foundation of creativity and ingenuity, and Saturday night Dalton Doyle continued that model by driving a machine he built with his own two hands to victory lane at the ‘Steel Palace’ as a part of the Speedway’s 65th annual opening night presented by Mitchell’s Speedway Press and Planet Fitness.
Chad Phelps has had a start to the 2015 season he would rather forget. Mechanical gremlins bit Phelps at every turn until Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway. In the 35-Lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature it all came together for Phelps. Phelps took advantage of a lap 20 restart when he was able to drive under and by defending Track Champion Larry Wight for the lead.
