Sandy Creek students were recently empowered by award-winning actor, writer and solo performer Tim Collins during an anti-bullying theatrical performance. Collins’ one-man show “Standing By, Standing Up” was about the struggles students face as instigators, bystanders and victims of various types of bullying.
Dozens of soon-to-be freshmen and their parents gathered in the high school auditorium during Transition Night, where teachers, administrators and staff members were on hand to answer questions.
The discussion of who is responsible for sidewalk repair and maintenance continued at Monday night’s Administrative Services Committee meeting. Assistant City Attorney Tom Reynolds said the city charter authorizes the DPW, pursuant to Section C12-06, to require the owners of property fronting upon any street … “to construct, repair and keep in order sidewalks.” “The city can, but does not have to have the residents pay for the sidewalk,” he added. “The charter basically leaves it open.”

State Police in Pulaski investigated a three-vehicle personal injury accident that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday on State Route 3 at the intersection with State Route 104 in the village of Mexico. Two people were reportedly treated and released from the hospital.
The weekly pickup schedule is for bagged and contained yard waste and debris ONLY and must be placed out for pickup by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day. Yard waste consists of leaves, grass clippings, yard rakings, flower garden weeding, etc.

Going in to see Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, I was not happy. As to be expected, even on the second day, one had to wait in line an hour before the showing time to get a seat. If you can make it through all of the trailers for the upcoming comic book to screen adaptations, and believe me, there will be many, Age of Ultron will delight. It starts right in the middle of things, with incredible action sequences, and from there, the action rarely stops or even slows.
