Le Moyne College Announces Spring 2015 Dean’s List

Oswego Fire Department crews responded to the Oswego Harbor earlier this evening (Aug. 5) for people is distress on the breakwall. What appeared to be a calm day in Oswego turned dangerous, as 6 people walking on the breakwall began to get struck by waves approximately 100 yards south of the lighthouse. A witness on shore called 911, and emergency crews were dispatched at 4:41 p.m. No injuries were reported.
2015 marks the 31st year the Zonta Club of Oswego has presented the Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award to a woman who has dedicated herself to making a difference in her community and serving as a positive role model to other women. On September 25, Julie Chetney will receive the honor at the 31st Amelia Earhart Dinner to be held at The American Foundry in Oswego. Chetney’s colleagues noted her kindness and modesty in both her professional and personal life.
Nathan J. Hammond, 24, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 4, 2015.
Karen May Farnham, 68, of Hannibal, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday August 4, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Over the course of the International Classic’s nearly 60 years at Oswego Speedway, several Canadian drivers have made their mark on the ‘Steel Palace,’ including Dave McKnight. Starting his first Classic in 1986, McKnight has missed just one 200 since that time driving for several teams including the Bush No. 6, Mucci No. 98, Lichty No. 94, Syrell No. 08, and most recently the Morton No. 70.
Tau Phi Zeta recognizes the academic achievement, scholarship, leadership, character and professional excellence of students in the college’s veterinary medicine programs. To qualify for induction, students must achieve at 3.5 GPA and demonstrate a love of animals.
