The No. 4 Oswego State men’s basketball team downed the top seeded Plattsburgh Cardinals 81-74 in Memorial Hall Friday evening, earning the Lakers a spot in the SUNYAC Championship final for the second straight year. It is also the second consecutive season that Oswego has upset No. 1 Plattsburgh, with last year’s coming in the title game.
John and I arrived in Nicaragua late in the afternoon and so we stayed at the Las Mercedes Best Western Hotel which is across from the airport. The hotel provides free transportation but it is walkable from the airport. Ometepe Island, located in Lake Nicaragua, is one of the world’s largest freshwater islands. The island was formed thousands of years ago when sand accumulated creating an isthmus between the two volcanoes. Only the Conception Volcano is active.
“The Mousetrap,” SUNY Oswego’s student honors production opening March 4, offers a character-driven play populated with legendary mystery writer Agatha Christie’s delicious inn full of quirky characters, and the driven actors portraying them. The players take the stage for a preview at 7:30 p.m. March 3, and then for the run of the play at 7:30 p.m. March 4, 5, 11 and 12, with a finale at 2 p.m. March 13 in Hewitt ballroom.

On Thursday (February 25), at approximately 6 a.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team and Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team executed a methamphetamine related search warrant at 444 Chapman Road in the town of Parish. One person was arrested. Others arrests are pending.
Two (three-year term) upcoming vacancies on the Oswego City School District Board of Education will be elected at the May 17 school budget and board of education vote.
