United Way of Greater Oswego County is planning its 8th Annual community luncheon provided by local area restaurants and small businesses all in effort to raise awareness to end hunger in Oswego County. Committee members for the Stone Soup Too Luncheon meet to plan the menu for this year’s event.
Hannibal Central School District children and their families are encouraged to attend the free celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. March 14 in the gymnasium, library, cafeteria and select classrooms at the elementary school.
The Oswego Lions Club will host the fifth annual Rivers Edge “handmade” Craft Show on June 12. The event will take place where the beautiful Oswego River and Lake Ontario meet.
The Oswego Evangelical Alliance invites all to a Good Friday Service, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Road.
Who really does have the most delicious meatballs in Oswego County? Come join us at the Mexico VFW, Route 3, on March 19 to find out and to also support our local “Blessings in a Backpack” program. We plan to start serving dinners at 4 p.m. and continue serving until 7 p.m.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Oswego County Health Department organized its Strategic National Stockpile Drill in coordination with local Girl Scouts. Cases of Girl Scout cookies represented medical supplies that would be distributed in the event of an actual emergency.
The healthy living classes will be held on Fridays, starting March 11 and ending April 22 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Oswego Hospital’s cafeteria conference room.
Oswego State will host the sectional round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship on Friday and Saturday. Christopher Newport University, Keene State College and The College of Wooster will join the Lakers for a three-game weekend that will determine which squad garners a place in the coveted Final Four, to be held in Salem, Va. the next week.
The Fulton Common Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposal to mend non-conforming use laws. The hearing is scheduled to take place at a regular council meeting after the public comment section on April 5 starting at 7 p.m. in the city municipal building, 141 S. First St. City officials say they’d like to amend the law to consider each property on an individual basis.
