While New York State agencies, the National Weather Service and local communities prepare to observe Weather Hazards Awareness Week, Oswego County Emergency Management Office Director Dale Currier encourages local residents to develop their own protection plans to deal with severe weather threats.
Inside the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego on Sunday afternoon, nearly 200 people were loosing their hair as the St. Baldrick’s Foundation was gaining support. After an hour, the total had hit $49,000. Over the course of its 10 years, Oswego’s St. Baldrick’s events have raised more than $511,600 to help fight childhood cancer.
Dawn DeForest, 58, of Fulton, passed away peacefully Saturday April 9, 2016, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY, with her loving husband, Alan DeForest, by her side.
Joseph Anthony Murabito, 84, a resident of West Albany Street in Oswego, passed away on Wednesday April 6, 2016, in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Marjorie J. Deary, 79, of Scriba, NY, died Thursday April 7, 2016, peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Larry Williams, a 42-year-member of the Sodus Rotary Club and a representative of Halco Energy, explained New York State’s energy audits available to homeowners and others at a recent meeting of the Fulton Rotary Club.
Oswego Health recognized its more than 120 physicians who represent 30 specialties on National Doctors’ Day, which is celebrated each year on March 30. To thank its physicians for their exceptional patient care, the health system provided a special breakfast and hosted a new evening event at the Oswego Country Club.
The Oswego County Legislature recognized Kendra Harter at its March meeting for her inspirational example of hard work and dedication. A senior at Mexico Academy and Central School, Harter plays guard on the varsity basketball team where she has an impressive average of 16.6 points per game.
