The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee presented JoAnne Barnes with a certificate of appreciation for her service. Barnes is a senior social welfare examiner at the Oswego County Department of Social Services.
Residents of The Gardens Assisted Living Community enjoyed an afternoon of lively music and sing-a-longs as pianist Betty Johnson stopped by to entertain the residents. Live entertainment is one of the many activities that The Gardens offers to its residents.
Operation Oswego County Executive Director L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, was re-elected to another two-year term on the board of directors of the New York State Economic Development Council at the organization’s annual meeting held in Cooperstown on May 25.
Meagan Suchewski of Central Square, NY, is among the 551 students who earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2016 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
The Class of 2016 also included more than 125 graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude honors.
More than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded to this year’s seniors at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District; the students were recognized at their annual Senior Awards Night.
Frank H. Newton Sr., 94, of Scriba, passed away on Monday June 13, 2016, at Oswego Hospital.
Following a lengthy debate Monday night, the resolution was approved 5-2 with councilors Shawn Walker and Robert Corradino voting no. The WiFi service will modernize downtown Oswego and provide an additional amenity to visitors and patrons of downtown businesses, the mayor said. However, opponents believe the cost and length of the contract is prohibitive. And, some residents aren’t in favor of paying more taxes just to benefit the downtown district.
