Assemblyman Will Barclay released the following statement today (July 11) after the Public Service Commission proposed to value nuclear as a clean energy source. “I applaud the state Public Service Commission for proposing to financially assist upstate nuclear power plants. Without this assistance, there is a high probability that our nuclear power plants would shut down.”
On Friday, July 8, at approximately 11:17 a.m., State Police in Pulaski attempted to stop a speeding Dodge minivan travelling northbound on Interstate 81 in the town of Richland. The driver failed to comply and continued northbound into Jefferson County, police said. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near exit 44 in the town of Adams
On July 7, State Police charged Marcus Miller, of Oswego, with Attempted Robbery 1st degree. At 2:55 a.m., police responded to an attempted robbery complaint that occurred in the town of Volney. Investigation revealed the victim was driving Miller to a residence in the city of Fulton, police said. While en route, Miller allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim drive to his house and surrender a TV and other electronics to Miller upon arrival.
Thanks to the efforts of Oswego County Opportunities and the New York State WIC Program, children and their families will soon be able enjoy the process of growing and eating their own fresh vegetables. As part of its Healthy Lifestyles initiative WIC is providing children with the seeds and soil they need to grow their own vegetables.
Members of the 2015-2016 class researched recycling efforts and developed lesson plans which will be passed on to members of the 2016-2017 Global Environment class to teach to elementary students throughout the Fulton City School District.

The Oswego YMCA will offer a youth Total Performance Training program starting July 18. Training groups will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at two varied times. Group I for ages 12-17 will meet 2 – 3 p.m., and Group II ages 8-11 will meet from 3 – 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required at the Oswego YMCA.
A certification class to become a child passenger tech will be offered at the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department beginning August 24. The class will nationally certify attendees for a two-year period as a CPST.
