The Hannibal Central School District community is all smiles thanks to an oral health care initiative that will be implemented in the fall. In collaboration with the University at Buffalo and with the efforts of state Sen. Patty Ritchie, the district will launch the “S-miles to Go” program beginning in October.
In the middle of one of the hottest, driest summers in Oswego history, the Administrative Services Committee was once again focused on the city’s winter parking policy. For about an hour Monday night councilors and residents discussed concerns and possible solutions to the city winter parking problems. Currently, the plan is “a work in progress.” A final resolution has yet to be proposed.
New York State’s “Move Over Law” was recently expanded to better protect volunteer emergency responders attending to distressed or disabled vehicles along roads and highways. I was pleased to vote in support of the expansion which was signed into law last month and will become effective in 2017. The expanded law requires drivers to exercise ‘due care’ and, where possible, to move over when approaching a parked or stopped vehicle displaying blue or green lights.
State Police in Fulton arrested Gregory J. Scerbo, 20, from 13 Powers Drive Fulton, and Steven R. Henri, 20, from 252 Kingdom Road Oswego, NY, both for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 4th degree, a class “A” misdemeanor. On August 13, troopers conducted a traffic stop on Second Street in the city of Fulton on a 2008 Pontiac G6 operated by Steven Henri.

Brass Exchange will perform a free concert at the gazebo on South First Street in downtown Fulton. They will play on August 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is part of the City of Fulton Summer Concert series.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District has scheduled a Coffee and Conversation evening on the proposed Capital Project, which will be held at the Maple View Restaurant on August 29 at 6 p.m.
On August 14, at approximately 2 a.m., State Police in Fulton attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta on State Route 48 in the town of Granby when the driver allegedly refused to comply. The driver eventually stopped after three miles of being pursued on State Route 48 in the city of Fulton.
William Lee Martin, 79, of Oswego and Sun City Center, Florida, died unexpectedly on Saturday August 13, 2016, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse following a brief illness.
