Fulton Rotarian Margaret Barclay welcomed colleagues and guest speakers Inga Back and April Marks of Oswego County Opportunities, Inc.’s Health and Nutrition Services. They spoke about the IMPACT Program (Initiative for Multi Sector Public Health Action) at a recent meeting.
Fun games, prizes, entertainment, ice cream sundaes and free tours of the Richardson-Bates House Museum will all take place on Aug. 21 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Family Fun Day. The public is invited to come and take part in this summer fun activity for children and adults alike on the lawn at the museum at 135 E. Third St., Oswego.
When the calendar turns to August, there are a few certainties, back-to-school shopping, soaking up the last days of summer and of course, the great New York State Fair. This year’s State Fair kicks off on August 25 and runs until September 3 in Syracuse. For more than 175 years, the Great New York State Fair has drawn millions of people to Central New York.

The Children’s Museum of Oswego (CMOO) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Shineman Foundation for the Build, Play, Grow Campaign. The funding will be used for the design, fabrication and installation of one of CMOO’s planned signature exhibits, the Cloud Climber.

“For our department, it’s devastating,” Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie told Oswego County Today Monday night after the mayor unveiled his tentative 2017 city budget. Mayor William Barlow’s proposed spending not only includes a tax hike, it also slices more than a quarter of the fire department in order to make ends meet for the city next year. There is no water or sewer fee increase, the mayor pointed out.
The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will present a public program on August 24 at 10 a.m., rain date August 26, 10 a.m. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a summer morning, squirreling about the woodland with naturalist Pat Carney.
