Sunday’s finish of the 60th annual Budweiser International Classic 200 at Oswego Speedway was fitting of an anniversary special as Jeff Abold pounced on a fuel starved Dave Shullick Jr. with one lap remaining and held off a hard charging Michael Barnes to claim the biggest win of his career, worth $15,000. Abold, who had fallen to as far as 14th position in the field, made a late race rally to pull into the runner-up spot at lap 184, putting himself in prime position to take advantage of Shullick who began to sputter out of fuel on lap 198.
There is a classic rock song by Bachman-Turner Overdrive called, ‘Takin Care of Business.’ That is exactly what Larry Wight did Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway in the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds. It all came down to 35 laps between Larry Wight and Jimmy Phelps to decide a champion after season long battles that started in early spring on the ‘Highbanks.’ Wight had his car working wherever he put it on the speedway, with racing two and three wide, finding any advantage was tough moving to the front.
Ohio’s Dave Shullick, Jr. won his third Bud Light ISMA Super Nationals on Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway. It was the series-leading fifth win of the 2016 season on the circuit (his first of the year at Oswego) for the pilot of the Jim Bodnar-owned No. 95.
