The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation’s summer school program was a real page-turner for students in Darlene Ochsner’s class.
Team CiTi Olympians recently won a trip to Thunder Island in Fulton after its 32 members read a total of 276 books from July 6 to Aug. 10, as part of the 2016 CiTi Summer Reading program.
After weeks of drills at various locations around the county, young tennis enthusiasts recently had the chance to have some fun with their new skills. “The carnival is our end of the year celebration! We invite all of our children that have attended our program to come relax, have fun, and play tennis. It sort of culminates the summer not only for the kids but for my AmeriCorps members as well,” said Shane Evans, supervisor of the USTA Tennis Program at the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley appointed 20-year development professional Mary Canale to the position of interim vice president of development and alumni relations. Canale succeeds Kerry Dorsey, who retires Oct. 13 after 13 years of exceptional service to her alma mater.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Starting on September 20, Read with Lucy will be at the Children’s Room from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Lucy will be in the Oswego Public Library on the first and third Tuesdays of every month. Lego Club will be held in the children’s room on the second Thursday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m.
On the night of April 26-27, 1865, the funeral train of President Abraham Lincoln passed through Weedsport, NY. According to estimates, most of the people living in the area at the time were in Weedsport to witness the event.
Patrick Dewine, executive director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. He gave an update on United Way initiatives and the annual Stuff-A-Bus school supply collection.
Dominick Allen of Fulton enrolled at Lehigh University as part of the Class of 2020. The members of the Class of 2020 represent 40 states and 30 countries.
Andrea Griffis was presented with a longevity award for her service.
