Holiday Craft Show, Luncheon, Book Signing and Sale Planned

Cassady is a super friendly teenager, good with her foster mom’s little yippy dogs and her other cats. She is also very affectionate toward people, so much so that it’s hard to take her picture because she wants to just give you little cat kisses. So you have to trust us that she is truly very pretty with a little half bob tail.
The Oswego County Legislature welcomed the Oswego Salvation Army to its monthly meeting to launch its 2016 ‘Red Kettle’ campaign. This year’s goal of $85,000 is needed to maintain services throughout the upcoming year.
With the holidays upon us, many community activities are in the works that will brighten the season. Volunteers and community organizations are planning to cook and serve warm holiday meals, coat and mitten drives are being organized, and others are coordinating the delivery of gifts to families for Christmas who are in need, to name a few.
On December 10, the Village Tavern on Oswego Street in Hannibal will host a Christmas Dinner and Dance. The cost is $35 per couple, with a $1 from each ticket benefiting the Hannibal Historical Society.
The city of Oswego will be full of holiday cheer Nov. 26 at the annual tree lighting event coordinated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and hosted by Mayor William Barlow Jr. A full day of fun family activities is scheduled, including pictures with Santa and new activities such as an outdoor skating surface. The event kicks off with the annual Holiday Expo at 9 a.m. in the YMCA Armory with more than 40 vendors, children’s activities, food and holiday music.
The nationally-ranked Oswego State women’s ice hockey team defeated the No. 1/1 Plattsburgh Cardinals 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Ronald B. Stafford Arena. Oswego improves to 7-1 on the season, while snapping Plattsburgh’s 13-game winning streak and dropping the Cardinals to 6-1 on the year.
At about 11:40 a.m. today (Nov. 20), the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Ridge Road in the town of Granby. A USPS delivery truck was northbound on Ridge Road, lost control on the wet roadway, left the eastside of the roadway, struck a tree, ejecting the driver and the vehicle overturned onto the ejected driver, according to the police report.
