The past week, for our Fulton community, has been one of recognition and continued support for the contributions that the veterans have made in all of our lives. The news that after 56 years, Korean War Veteran U.S. Army Corp. Joseph Trepasso would be coming home after his remains were identified, was an emotional experience for us all.
Audrey Scruton, Oswego County artist, returns to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center for the continuation of our 2016 Nature Inspires series, on December 11 at 2 p.m., when she will instruct a class on the Art of Quilling. Participants will create a quilled poinsettia or wreath ornament or card, perfect for the holiday season.
Both have to do with money. The first will allow the public to weigh in regarding potential salary hikes, from 2017 through 2020, for three county officials. The other gives taxpayers a chance to sound off on the tentative 2017 county budget.
It was an epic ‘game of throws’ recently in the Paul V. Moore High School gymnasium as the school hosted the fifth annual Brewerton PTO Dodgeball Tournament. The event was open to all youth grades four through twelve, and teams swarmed from all over Oswego and Onondaga counties to compete.
The faint scent of fresh cut wood loomed in the air as fourth grade students at CSI brought their studies on Native American culture to life with a very special visitor. Alfred Jacques, a member of the Onondaga Turtle Clan, recently visited the school to share his culture with students and staff.
Several local businesses recently partnered with the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning and I Love New York to host a team of German businesses who are interested in bringing visitors to Oswego County. The fishing familiarization tour was organized by the New York State Division of Tourism to attract Germans who would like to fish while on vacation in the U.S.
Fulton Police are currently investigating a residential burglary that was reported at approximately 1:37 p.m. today (Nov. 10) on South Eleventh Street in the city of Fulton. One suspect was apprehended and a second fled into a wooded area. That suspect was taken into custody later.
The Fulton Community School Extended Day Program’s fun, hands-on learning environment has fueled creativity and academic success for local junior high school students. Several students have achieved their academic goals and became more actively-engaged in their learning thanks to their participation in the “Fulton on Film” session.
