Malta is an island in the Mediterranean, so seafood it very popular. One day, John and I had lunch at La Nostra Padrona, a seaside restaurant in the picturesque fishing town of Marsaxlokk. The weather was beautiful – perfect for dining alfresco. John was able to pick from the “catch of the day” while I had a great salad.
Kindness, compassion and acceptance are all Volney Elementary School character traits that were recently reinforced by singer/songwriter Jared Campbell. Campbell once again visited the Volney Vikings to inspire students to love themselves and everyone around them.
The community is invited to an open skate with the Oswego State men’s and women’s ice hockey teams for Holiday Skate with the Lakers, 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 11, in Marano Campus Center arena to benefit the local United Way.

Elizabeth “Grandma” Merritt, 86, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday November 29, 2016, in Oswego.
On December 1, with the official countdown to Christmas underway, the city of Fulton held its annual tree lighting event to kick off the “most wonderful time of the year.” Families bundled up to watch the large tree across from City Hall be lit up in colorful lights by none other than Santa and Mrs. Claus while free donuts, popcorn, and hot chocolate played a part in keeping guests warm.
This effort to spend your dollars in locally owned stores is such a strong part of our overall economic engine that it should become a natural habit. Those dollars not only keep our local businesses open, they retain employment for many others throughout our county.
