Reserved utility camping in Oswego Speedway’s flats camping lot for the 2017 season and Classic Weekend will be available for purchase beginning Monday, March 27. SUNY Oswego in Syracuse will hold a reception for artist Jason Cheney from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 30, at the Tyler Art Gallery branch in the Metro Center, 2 Clinton Square. Cheney will display mixed-media drawings such as "Alis Volat Propriis" ("She Flies with Her Own Wings," pictured) that use odd juxtapositions and elements of science fiction to explore myth, fantasy and story.

An exhibition of Cheney’s new work, titled “Internum Opera,” is scheduled to run March 24 to May 26 at the gallery in the Metro Center, 2 Clinton Square, in Syracuse’s Atrium building.

“On Tuesday (March 21), the Hon. James Tormey, Chief Administrative Judge for the 5th Judicial District, appointed me (and thereby my office) to serve as special prosecutor in the matter of People v. Oswego County DA to Oversee Criminal Case Following Fatal Syracuse Hit and Run Accident

Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes will oversee the criminal case against former investigator for the Onondaga County District Attorney’s office, 37-year-old Peter J. Rauch of Liverpool after he struck an 18-year-old man with his vehicle and fled the scene on Tuesday (March 21) at 1:30 a.m. The victim, Seth M. Collier, was immediately taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition upon admittance, however, Syracuse Police have since confirmed that Collier succumbed to his injuries at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, March 23.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation will host its 11th annual St. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego from 1 – 4 p.m. on March 26. The foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. In its first 10 years, the Oswego event has raised more than $530,000.

Well, here we go again! Under the Obama administration, the US Fish and Wildlife Service implemented a rule that prohibited certain hunting methods on 76 million acres of federal land in Alaska. On February 17, the House of Representatives passed H.R. Resolution 69, which is the first step in revoking the rule under the Congressional Review Act. Claudia Tenney, John Katko and Tom Reed all voted in favor of the resolution.
