A large fire has destroyed at least two downtown Oswego businesses this morning (May 27). The fire was reported to 911 shortly after 9 a.m. by an employee of Paura’s Liquors. There have been no serious injuries reported. Firefighters from several departments continue to battle the blaze.
The names of some destinations have a magical draw for me, such as Katmandu and Timbuktu. I will probably never get to Timbuktu but I decided if I was ever going to Kathmandu I better go while I still can. When John and I arrived at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport it was very busy with several planes arriving about the same time. We decided to get a visa on arrival, but so did most of the other passengers. So it was very hectic.

Oswego (32-10) will now face Concordia University Chicago (33-12) at 10 a.m. (CDT) on Saturday in an elimination game.
The Oswego County Health Department reported today (May 26) that a skunk has tested positive for rabies in the town of Minetto. A dog which came in contact with the skunk was up-to-date on its rabies shots and was given a rabies booster shot as a required precaution. There was no human exposure. “The rabies virus is widespread in Oswego County and across the region this spring, and we are continuing to receive new reports,” said Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Public Health Director.
Phyllis M. Walts, 81, formerly of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Friday May 26, 2017, at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego, NY.
Nancy E. Ritchie, 53, a former resident of Fulton, and more recent of Rockwell, NC, died Tuesday May 23, 2017, in Tucker Hospice Center, NC, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
This fun-filled day of interactive learning kicked off with a Songs and the Wild presentation, highlighting animals and ecosystems around the globe through music. Classes then embarked on a guided tour of their chosen Earth Day activities.
The Oswego County Historical Society, along with the Friends of Riverside Cemetery, will host a guided cemetery tour of the historic Riverside Cemetery at 4024 County Route 57, Oswego, on June l1 at 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
