Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is accepting registrations into its Summer Shooting Sports Program. This program is open to all girls and boys ages 12 to 19 who are interested in shotgun and muzzleloading or rifle.
Port City Roller Derby will host an intraleague bout on July 8 starting at 6 p.m. at Crisafulli Ice Rink, 32 Fort Ontario Road. Port City Roller Derby is Oswego’s only women’s flat track roller derby team. We are fun-loving and hard-hitting and want you to come see us in action. Our bout theme is “The Fight before Christmas (in July)” with a portion of the bouts proceeds going to Toys for Tots.
The University at Albany congratulates more than 3,400 students who were named to the Spring 2017 Dean’s List. Students named to the Dean’s List earned at least a 3.5 GPA.
Students who receive this commendation earned at least a 3.5 GPA in 6 graduation credits this semester.
One of the most interesting places John and I visited on Staten Island was Snug Harbor Cultural Center. It was a one-stop see-a-lot place. It is a Smithsonian affiliate that was started in 1801 by Robert Richard Randall as a sanctuary for aged sailors and grew to have 50 structures and nearly a 1000 residents from every corner of the world. Snug Harbor was a self-sustaining community with a dairy, chapel, hospital and music hall and by the 20th century the richest charitable institution in the United States.
