Leighton Students Get Early Look At Career Choices

Butcher, Baker and Candlestick maker; only the baker was represented among the a plethora of other local careers visiting Leighton Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon to share their expertise with students. The elementary students could meet people representing a wide variety of professions, including dentist, firefighter, police officer, welder, restaurateur and youth director.

Veteran Phoenix Volunteer FF Honored by FASNY In Surprise Ceremony

Danny Dunn, member of the Enterprise Fire Company No. 1, which is part of the Phoenix Fire Department, was named the 2017 Fire Safety Educator of the Year by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York. Dunn was honored in a surprise ceremony at the Phoenix Fire Department during the company’s monthly meeting on the evening of June 1.

Cantine Scholarship Awarded To Daniel Grant, N2DRG

The Fulton Amateur Radio Club presented the Thomas G. Cantine Jr. Memorial Scholarship to Daniel Grant, N2DRG, of Clayton at its May meeting. “Daniel is a perfect student,” Tom’s wife, Pam, W2TQF, said. “Tom would have picked him himself. He’s been interested in radios from a young age and his achievements are exemplary.”
