‘Divine Intervention’ Helped Get ARISE’s Ramp Program Rolling

Dozens of motorcycle riders and a myriad other volunteers turned out Saturday to help support ARISE’s ramp program. ARISE has installed many ramps to ensure more and more people have access to a home environment, James Karasek said. The event was hosted by Oswego Speedway and Lighthouse Lanes.

ORA Awards $200,000 to Oswego Neighborhoods

The Oswego Renaissance Association held its fourth annual “Awards Reception” June 2 and formally awarded 15 Oswego city neighborhoods, representing more than 150 homes, the “Renaissance Block Challenge Grant” totaling more than $160,000. Additionally the ORA awarded 16 “Neighborhood Pride Grants” to 16 different resident groups, totaling more than $30,000. Another 20 homes that are being re-painted in historic colors were awarded “Paint Oswego Grants” totaling $20,000.

SUNY Oswego will host the seventh annual GENIUS Olympiad, a global environmental competition for high school students from dozens of nations around the world, from June 13 to 16 at Marano Campus Center arena, providing several opportunities for the public to experience dozens of cultures and hundreds of exhibits and performances in science, music, business, art, creative writing and robotics.

Jazz Saxophonist To Perform At Opening of GENIUS Environmental Competition

The colorful opening ceremony June 13 for the seventh annual GENIUS Olympiad at SUNY Oswego will feature smooth jazz saxophonist Marcus Anderson along with public viewing of environmentally themed projects entered by high school competitors from around the world. A record 1,100 students and their mentors will display and explain their work from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 13, in Marano Campus Center arena.
