Teens Clean Up Tobacco Litter In Parks

Teens from Oswego County recently participated in a Reality Check Tobacco Observation and Park Clean Up. Teens involved in Youth Court, Leadership Oswego County youth, and the Oswego County Youth Advisory Council participated in the project hosted by Reality Check of Cayuga, Onondaga and Oswego counties.

Tall Ships Event Request Sails To Council

A request regarding the Festival of Ships event floated to the full council for consideration. At Monday’s Physical Services Committee meeting, Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, introduced the request from Mercedes Niess of the Maritime Museum regarding the tall ship event to be held on July 21-23, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the West First Street Pier. “It’s a fantastic event,” Rudgick told the committee.

National Recording Artist, Actor In Musical ‘Grease’

Recording artist and movie actor, also plays and musicals Michael Paul Callahan will perform in the musical Grease as Teen Angel. It’s directed by Tom Briggs with musical director Robert Dumas and choreography by Stephfond Brunson The show will be at The Francis Marion Brown Theater, Oswego Civic Arts Center. July 8 at 8 p.m., July 9 at 2 p.m., July 14 at 8 p.m., July 15 at 8 p.m., and July 16 at 2 p.m.

Jesse Corfield, a 2014 SUNY Oswego graduate, is among a select group of U.S. citizens chosen to teach abroad in the upcoming academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Starting in February, he plans to teach English at a university in Brazil under the prestigious program. SUNY Oswego alumnus Jesse Corfield plans to continue his dedication to education and international service through teaching English in Brazil via the prestigious U.S. Fulbright Student Program. The 2014 graduate with a Spanish major and linguistics minor is a Fulbright finalist, a candidate who has been offered a Fulbright U.S. Student grant, contingent upon host country approvals, medical clearance and submission of all required grant documents.
