Oswego Industries announces it has been awarded a grant from the Shineman Foundation to support the campaign to fund a major renovation project at its main campus. The grant amount allocated to Oswego Industries is $125,000 and will support the renovation of a currently unoccupied building into an upgraded space to expand its community-based services, as well as a licensed childcare center open to the community.
Thanks to the generosity of community members and the Mexico Academy and Central School District Faculty Association, 301 Mexico students received brand new backpacks stuffed with necessary supplies to start the 2017-18 school year.
The State Board of Real Property Tax Services voted Wednesday (August 23) to adopt its staff’s recommendation to set the 2017 equalization rate for the town of Scriba at 86.2%. Since 2002, the town of Scriba has maintained a 100% equalization rate. The state board’s decision will effectively result in an increase in taxes to be paid by Scriba residents, town officials announced. Based on estimates, the owner of a property in Scriba valued at $100,000 will see an increase in their school taxes in October by as much as $300 over last year’s amount.
We have all heard about this I’m sure. We have all heard or read how our neighbor, the city of Oswego, has received money, lots of it, to accomplish its plan. Here in our city of Fulton, we have a group assembled to try and accomplish the same thing. They have tried once before and now they are trying again. I applaud them for their effort.
Well more than 100 Fulton City School District students will begin the 2017-18 school year with a starter pack of school supplies, thanks to the generosity of FCSD teachers and community members.
