Assemblyman Will Barclay presented longtime volunteer Robert “Bob” Green with an Assembly Resolution. Green was recently recognized by the New York State Office for the Aging for his outstanding contributions. He has been an active resident of Fulton who continuously finds ways to give back to his community after serving in the United States Navy during World War II.
Long-time Oswego County Opportunities employee Cristy King has been named the agency’s director of Crisis and Development Services. King joined OCO in 2000 as the Services to Aid Families SAF House manager and was named SAF Services coordinator in 2009.
On September 10, the Oswego County Humane Society will host its 12th annual 5K-9 race, newly renamed the Rover Run 5K & Family Fun Day, at Fallbrook Recreation Center, 103 Thompson Road, Oswego. The 5K will be timed by Auyers Race Timing and there will be a 1-mile family walk.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a motorcycle accident in the 2100 block of West Genesee Road near the Interstate 690 underpass in the town of Lysander, which injured an Oswego County couple. Both were transported to Upstate University Hospital, where the male driver is currently being treated for a hip injury while the female passenger is being treated for a serious head injury.
The Oswego City School District has announced its 2017-2018 income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced price meals and milk. As part of the National School Lunch Program, OCSD offers nutritionally balanced meals to students at no cost or a reduced cost based on a household’s income.
The Oswego County Health Department has received notification from New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker of the declaration of an “Imminent Threat to Public Health” for mosquito-borne disease. The declaration enables the County Health Department to take steps, including aerial spraying, to control mosquito populations in Oswego County.
