Madelyn Ann Marie Stauring was born in Oswego Hospital on October 27, 2017.
October marks Domestic Violence Awareness month. It’s an important time for people to use whatever platform they can to talk about these tragic encounters, raise awareness of them and perhaps share personal stories or experiences. However, as we flip the calendar to November, stopping the spread of domestic violence, which is one of the least reported and punished crimes, and helping victims recover should continue to remain at the forefront of our minds.
Canale’s Restaurant will be providing the next Salvation Army Guest Chef dinner on November 14, 4:30 to 6 p.m. The dinner will be at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, 73 W. Second St. Planning is under way for this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. The need is to raise more than $100,000.
Elmira College recently recognized many of its most promising new students with the 82nd awarding of the Elmira College Key Award. The Elmira College Key Award, an award of merit sponsored by the Elmira College Alumni Association, has been awarded to students since 1935.
With the winter sports season almost upon us, the Oswego Varsity Hockey team was looking to get a jump on some fundraising efforts to helps support some of its promotional nights that they are looking to hold this year; November 28th Teal Night, (Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night), and First Responder Night December 22, (Honoring First Responders throughout the area).
