Town Hall Meeting Set On County Issues

An open, non-partisan town hall meeting is scheduled to meet with a group of Oswego County legislators. A panel of two Democrats and two Republicans will discuss questions posed to them regarding current county issues with audience participation at the end of the meeting. The meeting will be held on October 17 at 7 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber, County Office Building, fourth floor, 46 E. Bridge St.

National, state and local public policy experts will join featured speakers from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom for a conference titled “Business Incubators and New York State: New Strategies for Socio-Economic Renewal.” Featured speakers for the event include Dr. Henry Etzkowitz of Stanford University, originator of the Triple Helix theory for business incubation.

Harvest Turkey Dinner Slated At Minetto United Methodist Church

The Minetto United Methodist Church kitchen will spring to life in a few days as more than 100 parishioners and friends prepare and serve the annual harvest turkey dinner. The dinner is scheduled for October 21, with serving beginning at 4 p.m. Guests may eat in the dining room, carry out dinners to take home, or pick up dinners in the drive-through line.

CAC Offering Training to Help End Child Abuse

Physical and sexual child abuse is the most serious health problem that youth face. It is a prevalent problem that affects hundreds of youth and their families in Oswego County. Last year alone, the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County provided services to 497 children and their families. “Child abuse in our communities is a serious problem,” said Child Advocacy Center Executive Director Karrie Damm.
