The hour-long, narrated ballet features a lively cast of characters, some well-known, such as Dasher, some new, such as the reindeer Peppermint, Sir Ralph Elf, and two slightly confused penguins. The cast includes Stephen Huffaker of Phoenix (Dasher and Dancer) and Sarah Fisch of Fulton (Cocoa and Pepper).
A little kindness has gone a long way for Lanigan Elementary School students. Caring hearts of hundreds of students and staff members at Lanigan led to the collection of a few hundred non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of Central New York, strengthened friendships and messages of positivity throughout the building.
Thanks to the efforts of school counselor Dian Roberts, students have taken off with the “Palermo Puzzle” project which has involved writing positive, inspiring messages on each puzzle piece and then hiding them somewhere in the school in hopes of brightening a classmate’s or teacher’s day.
The Paul V. Moore Student Government will sponsor another exciting “Kids’ Night Out!” from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the high school, 44 School Drive. This safe and fun holiday event is being offered for parents and guardians who would like to enjoy an evening during the holiday season to get some shopping done, all while their children are being cared for and entertained in safe and friendly environment.
Oswego Health held an open house for its new Center for Weight Loss and Surgery on Nov. 8 with members of the medical staff and community attending. At the open house, Oswego Health President and CEO Michael Harlovic officially welcomed the new bariatric physicians, Jeffrey DeSimone, MD, and Kenneth Cooper, DO, along with their staff to the health system.
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team took home a thrilling 5-3 win over Fredonia on Saturday night to remain unbeaten in SUNYAC play. With the win, Oswego improves to 5-1-0 this season and 3-0-0 in conference action, while Fredonia falls to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference games.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell to No. 2 Plattsburgh State, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team opened the 2017-18 campaign with a six-point, 75-69, loss to Hamilton College on the first day of the Elmira College Tournament. Both teams were in the others receiving votes section of D3hoops.com’s preseason national rankings.
The event is free and open to the public. “The historic Richardson-Bates House Museum will be fully decorated in the Victorian style,” said board trustee Justin White. “We welcome the community to join us in celebrating the holiday season in the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas.”
