A Message of Perseverance for Leighton Students

Gary Carpentier, an Oswego graduate and former contestant on NBC’s The Voice, paid students a visit as part of Leighton’s Exploration Friday series. Carpentier inspired students with stories of his personal journey that led him to The Voice and offered some insight to where his life’s journey might take him next. He encouraged students to always put forth their best efforts in order to be “better and better and better.”

Catholic Charities Hosts Open House, Welcomes Bishop Cunningham, Many Visitors

Catholic Charities of Oswego County hosted an open house Nov. 9 that featured a blessing by Most Rev. Robert J. Cunningham, Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse, a ribbon cutting, and a throng of visitors curious to see the new location. Mary-Margaret Pekow, executive director, said, “The turnout was heartwarming, and our staff was extremely proud to host tours and show off out beautiful new facility.”

Boniface Career Planning Fund Provides Opportunities For SUNY Oswego Students

Hundreds of SUNY Oswego students have explored a variety of career fields, networked with professionals, toured facilities and developed new connections with each other, faculty, employers and alumni, thanks to the Boniface Unendowed Career Planning Student Fund. The fund, established by 1992 SUNY Oswego alumni Thomas Jr. and Maria Parengkuan Boniface, has enabled the college’s Office of Career Services to host a wide variety of industry-specific events and opportunities.
