‘Tis the season to gather with friends and family as we celebrate the holidays, and it is the perfect time to remember our feathered and furred friends outside in the cold. On December 3, at 2 p.m., the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will hold its annual Wreaths for Wildlife event.
Fairgrieve Elementary Universal Pre-Kindergarten students received a little help from “Sesame Street” characters in reviewing fire safety. Elmo, Oscar the Grouch and Cookie Monster all made guest appearances to the school, along with their new friend Mr. Smoke Detector during a puppet show performance, thanks to members of the Fulton Fire Department.
Learning is fun in Diane Bush’s Spanish 5 class at Mexico High School. The students recently studied about the Day of the Dead in various South American countries and learned the annual event on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 is a cultural tradition to remember and celebrate the lives of lost loved ones.

The Oswego Housing Development Council has selected Dennis Merlino and Patrick Waite to its board of directors in a unanimous vote at its annual October meeting. Both Merlino and Waite had been members of the council prior to their promotion to directors.
The Charles E. Riley Home and School Community Fair, scheduled for November 18 at the school from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., continues to grow with additional community organizations, vendors and generous donations for raffle baskets to raise funds to enhance the students’ experiences. CER Home and School Association event organizer Laura Ruggio said, “I am overwhelmed by the interest in our first community fair. We are hoping that this family event will even grow more than it already has.”
Leadership Oswego County (LOC), an annual leadership development program administered by SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation to expand and enhance programming for the 2017-18 program.
