Riley Home and School Community Fair Grows With Further Businesses and Organizations

OSWEGO – The Charles E. Riley Home and School Community Fair, scheduled for November 18 at the school from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., continues to grow with additional community organizations, vendors and generous donations for raffle baskets to raise funds to enhance the students’ experiences.

CER Home and School Association event organizer Laura Ruggio said, “I am overwhelmed by the interest in our first community fair. We are hoping that this family event will even grow more than it already has. The home and school association has been able to raise money to help improve our students’ experience while at school in a manner that can bring our community together.”

The list of local businesses and community organizations who have registered as participants continues to grow.

New groups joining the list of participants include Oswego County STOP-DWI with hands-on experiences in the fight against keeping drug and alcohol drivers off the road, Tobacco Free CNY with crafts and prizes to support community outreach along with the Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Department.

Additional businesses joining the list of participants include Sara Monroe Art, Paintings by Meaghan, Rustic Rehab, Essential Oils with Amber Geers, Rent A Center, Kellye Buckalew Photography, 31 with Shannon Moore, the Oswego Youth Conservatory, Master Pryor’s Taekwondo America, Crafts with Tammy Holland, St. Paul’s Basketball and Port City Copy Center.

The money raised from this event will be used to cover the various expenses that are not included within the school’s annual budget.

The desire is to allow students to experience activities outside of the school which will broaden their educational experience.

Openings are still available for this event and the cost per table is $30 and organizers are asking each participant to donate something toward a fundraising raffle.

Among the items that have been donated by various vendors and businesses which will be raffled and the proceeds going to the CER Home and School Association are a family jump pack valued at nearly $250 from SkyZone, a large gift basket from Green Planet Grocery, a gift certificate from Port City Day Spa, two pairs of LuLaRoe Leggings courtesy of LuLaRoe with Jena Carollo, a table runner from Holly’s Hobbies, Shop.com basket with several exclusive products, Color Street gift basket and a large gift basket with cookie, nuts and candies from the Girl Scouts of NYPENN.

Ruggio said, “Our hope for this event is to draw as many people from our community as possible, not only our Riley School families, but from throughout the city and surrounding towns. We will have things for the children to do as well as shopping opportunities for the adults. We also will have information regarding how people can become involved in our community.”

Ruggio added, “We are excited and enthused over the tremendous amount of interest in our Community Vendor Fair and we still have some openings.”
