Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership wrapped up its Breast Cancer Awareness month activities by creating its 8th annual Human Pink Ribbon in Oswego County. More than 200 people, dressed in pink, gathered at Bullhead Point in Fulton to form a human pink ribbon in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Staff members from Morningstar Residential Care Center joined the fun and participated in the residents’ annual Halloween Parade. Residents and staff donned their Halloween costumes and paraded throughout the facility before gathering for a snack of apple cider and donuts.
I have had the pleasure of working alongside George Ritchie, Hannibal Highway Superintendent, for the past two years as a councilman and as the liaison between the Highway department and the town board. The town has accomplished so much in the past two years that included an enormous number of new projects, work done and the ability to purchase new equipment and vehicles with cash without the need of bonding.
State Police in Fulton arrested Shane M. Thomas, 27, from Hannibal, and Cody A. Thomas, 18, from Fulton, for Assault 3rd degree (as a Hate Crime), a class “E” felony. The arrests resulted from an investigation into a complaint by a 19-year-old transgender individual, who was assaulted by both subjects during two separate incidents on November 1, 2017, while the victim was riding a bicycle along State Route 3, according to police.

Empire State Development today (Nov. 2) announced the official grand opening of the 1886 Malt House in Oswego County. The state-of-the-art facility will work to meet the rising demand for malted barley that has been created by the rapidly growing beer industry statewide. This system will be capable of producing a diverse group of malted products for craft brewing industry demands. Featuring a full in-house ASBC (American Society of Brewing Chemists), the malt operation is expected to produce more than 2,000 tons of top-notch malted barley sourced from New York State farms per year. That equates to more than 1.6 million gallons of beer.
The public is welcome to attend the morning worship service that will include songs and the story of her journey from Sherry Anne, who was born with a bilateral hearing and speech impairment, yet sings with an elegant voice that perfectly blends a passion for Southern Gospel-style, Country, and Blues music with her deep faith.
