Katko: Why I Voted For Tax Reform Bill

Last week, the House of Representatives voted on the first major reform of the United States Tax Code in more than 30 years. Like every bill that comes before the House for a vote, I studied this measure and analyzed its impact on the individuals and families who live and work in our community. After careful deliberation, I cast my vote in favor of this measure. I supported this legislation for two basic reasons: The vast majority of my constituents will receive a tax cut under this plan, and this effort will allow local businesses to invest in Central New York and our workforce.

A.G. Schneiderman Announces Settlement With Oswego County To Ensure Health Insurance Coverage For Transgender Employees

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced a settlement with the County of Oswego to ensure that transgender County employees and retirees have access to essential health care coverage through their employer-provided health plan. As part of the settlement, the county has agreed to eliminate from its plan a categorical exclusion on expenses related to gender transition; to offer an affirmative benefit for treatments and procedures for gender transition; and to ensure training and compliance with anti-discrimination laws going forward.

Kick Off The Holidays With A Polar Express Pajama Party

Back by popular demand, a magical journey will once again take place this Christmas for students of all ages in the Oswego City School District. Children and their parents are invited to kick off the holiday season and sport their fleece and flannel PJs for the 10th annual Polar Express Pajama Party. The event will take place at Oswego High School on Friday, December 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

As the performance of "Sleeping Beauty Waltz" approaches, SUNY Oswego's dance studio in Lee Hall provides a venue for rehearsals. Students in ballet from ages 4 to 21 will perform the Tchaikovsky piece as part of a College Community Orchestra concert at 3 p.m., Dec. 3, in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre.

The College Community Orchestra, under the direction of SUNY Oswego music professor Dr. Juan F. La Manna, and dancers from the community and college will perform Tchaikovsky’s famous “Sleeping Beauty Waltz” at 3 p.m. Dec. 3, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theater. Admission is free. The College Community Orchestra also will play other popular and classical selections.
