Flu activity is picking up in Oswego County! If you or your loved ones have not received a flu vaccine yet, get vaccinated today. Across New York State, cases of flu increased by 66 percent for the week ending Dec. 30, compared to the previous week.

The American Red Cross, which supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply, says the winter months are the most difficult time to collect blood.
Fort Ontario State Historic Site Manager Paul Lear presents an illustrated lecture on the history of America’s only Holocaust Refugee Camp, located at Fort Ontario in Oswego. The program will take place at 2 p.m. on January 27 in the large meeting room at G.S. Steamers Bar and Grill in the Quality Inn, 70 E. First St.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on January 28, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu, subject to change, will be meatball sub, salad, chips, beverage, and dessert.
On Saturday, January 27, an army of volunteers will gather at the VFW Post #369, 5930 Scenic Ave, Mexico. The public is invited to join Homes For Our Troops as it kicks off the build project for Army SPC Ryan Wilcox’s forever home. Spc. Wilcox, a local wounded soldier, will be the recipient of a specially modified, mortgage-free home for wounded soldiers from Homes for Our Troops.
L. Angeline Canale, 95, of Oswego, died Friday evening January 12, 2018, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home surrounded by her loving family.
DaMario Daniel Johnson was born in Oswego Hospital on January 13, 2018, at 7:59 a.m.
