Council OKs Memorial For Oswego Safety Advocate

The Oswego Common Council sailed through a light agenda. The council accepted the donation of a memorial bench in memory of Billie Crandall Brady, recognizing her dedication to the Oswego Community. She lost her battle with cancer on Feb. 1, 2017. Her husband, Dennis, requested the bench be placed in Breitbeck Park. Councilors also approved seeking a grant to enhance the city’s animal shelter.

The talent of several Mexico Academy and Central School District middle and high school students stood out among thousands of entries in the recent Scholastic art competition. The highest level of achievement, a gold key, was awarded to Mexico Middle School eighth grade studio art student Alexis Plumley for her “Golden Giraffe” entry in the ceramics and glass category.

Fulton Block Builders Fundraising Campaign Begins with ‘Firsts’ for 2018

The Fundraising Campaign for 2018 has started off with several momentous firsts. Universal Metal Works launched the first business support for the grassroots revitalization project, Fulton Block Builders (FBB) 2018 campaign.  Legislator James Karasek, representing the 22nd District in the Oswego County Legislature is the first public official to pledge financial support to the FBB 2018 Fundraising Campaign. Dennis and Kellie Merlino make the first community member contribution in support of the 2018 Fulton Block Builder program. The Merlinos went to the Fulton Block Builder website and made a $10.00 monthly recurring contribution.
