For many New Yorkers, high student loan debt and the cost of living can make it difficult to achieve the dream of owning a home. As a result, fewer people may be able to invest in homes in our local communities. Legislation I sponsor known as the New York State Diplomas to Homeownership Program would incentivize graduates of New York state colleges to purchase homes rehabilitated by local land banks.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the American Red Cross and Scriba Volunteer Fire Department, will host the second annual county-wide Law Enforcement Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Scriba Volunteer Fire Department.

The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is accepting applications for mini-grants for 2018. Not-for-profit community organizations can apply for up to $1,000 for activities provided to youth during hours when school is not in session.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services is looking for people who would like to become foster parents, particularly for children ages eight and over who may have special needs for supervision.
SUNY Oswego has named high-performing students from the area to the President’s List for fall 2017 for earning grade point averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale.
