Fulton Boil Water Advisory Lifted
Earlier this week, a water main break in the City of Fulton left specific customers in a boil water advisory dependent on proximity to the location of the water main break. City officials have announced that such advisory has been lifted after testing from a state certified laboratory has deemed the water safe.
Fulton Officials: Visible House Numbers a Public Safety Requirement
Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and Common Council president Donald Patrick Jr. have addressed a concerning public safety issue throughout the city. Several houses, they say, do not comply with city charter regulation under Property Conservation stating that all houses must have clear, visible house numbers. The issue is that of public safety, Patrick said.

The 27th U.S. president, William Howard Taft, who weighed 355 pounds, supposedly got stuck in the White House bathtub. It is open to conjecture; but, he did have an extra-large tub installed in the White House that could hold four ordinary men. When John and I were in Cincinnati, we visited the house where Taft was born. It is now a National Park. I have to admit, we didn’t know very much about Taft. But, during our tour of his house and the adjacent museum my ambivalence turned to respect for him.
Lakers’ Comeback Effort Falls Short
The Oswego State men’s basketball nearly erased a double-digit deficit but fell 69-67 to Brockport on Friday night in Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the loss, the Lakers are 12-12 overall and 9-8 in the conference while the Golden Eagles improved to 18-6, 13-4.
Potsdam Blanks Lakers
The No. 3/4 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team fell to the Potsdam Bears, 1-0, at home on Friday night. With the loss, the Lakers move to 18-4-2 on the season and 13-1-1 in SUNYAC play, while the Bears improve to 10-9-5 overall and 6-7-2 in conference action.

The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell to Potsdam, 3-1, on the road on Friday night. With the loss, the Lakers move to 10-11-2 on the season and 6-8-1 in NEWHL play, while Potsdam improves to 12-10-2 overall and 4-9-2 in conference action.
Rabid Raccoon Confirmed in Schroeppel
The Oswego County Health Department announced today (Feb. 16) that a rabid raccoon was recently confirmed in the Pennellville area of the town of Schroeppel. This marks the first confirmed case of rabies in Oswego County in 2018. There was no known contact between the rabid raccoon and humans or pets.
Annual Oswego County 4-H Tack Sale
The annual Oswego County 4-H Tack Sale will be held March 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Central Square Middle School. The benefits of the sale go towards the 4-H educational horse programs held throughout Oswego County.
Fulton Block Builders Near Completion of Fundraising Goal, Volunteerism is Awarded
Operation Oswego County Inc. has donated $2,500.00 to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) putting FBB closer to our goal!” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director, reaching 85 percent of the total fundraiser goal. Recently, the Fulton Block Builders were awarded for their volunteerism. Jan Rebeor chose to present the Community Champion Award to a group of individuals; the Fulton Block Builder volunteers.
