Agriculture’s Success Fuels New York State Economy

As chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, I take great pride in the work the committee does each year to support and strengthen New York’s family farms. In 2017, my colleagues and I continued to made great strides towards these goals, securing record state funding for key programs, increasing our efforts to make locally-grown foods more readily available for consumers, helping promote New York’s booming, farm-based craft beverage industry and continuing to encourage young people to pursue careers in farming.

Port City’s Plan To Assist Home Improvements Moves Forward

At Monday night’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, Mayor Billy Barlow requested consideration by the Common Council in approving the Office of Economic Development to prepare and submit a grant application for $500,000 to the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation for the Oswego Home Improvement Program. This program will provide financial assistance to existing owner-occupied one- to four-unit family homes, the mayor explained.

Maker Madness Event Planned March 3 at SUNY Oswego Penfield Library

On March 3 from 1 – 5 p.m., Penfield Library will team up with the Zonta Club of Oswego, Novelis and the Central Square School District for Maker Madness, a celebration of International Women’s Day filled with lots of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) fun.

It will be a free family-friendly event open to everyone, but with a focus on empowering girls and young women to explore their world and create a future.

‘Sweeney Todd’ To Open Friday At Oswego High School

The Oswego High School Music Department’s upcoming production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” opening this week, ranks among the most ambitious undertakings in the history of Buccaneer theatre. With a mammoth set depicting three stories of vignettes within the macabre atmosphere of Victorian London and a cast exceeding 60 members, “Sweeney Todd” will take the stage on Feb. 9 and 10.
