Oswego Health announces its rescheduled Healthy You event, which will focus on how women can remain heart healthy. It will be a night of education, wellness and fun on May 9 at GS Steamers, 70 E. First St.. The event was originally planned in February, but due to inclement weather it was postponed until May.
Destinee Lynn-Marie Sova was born in Oswego Hospital on April 13, 2018, at 8:28 a.m.
Now in its tenth year, the mural project is a youth-focused initiative, with the design and implementation directed by local youth with the support of the city of Oswego, the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, and Oswego AmeriCorps. The murals are located on West Linear Park along the river near the Utica Street Bridge and are designed and created by local students. Painting will begin over summer vacation.
Diane Cooper-Currier, executive director of Oswego County Opportunities and OCO board president Holly Carpenter announced the appointment of seven new members to OCO’s board of directors.
Suzanne Stout is being featured as Artist of the Month for April at the Riverside Artisans Cooperative. Her indoor container mini-gardens are customer favorites at the co-op.
Assemblyman Will Barclay recently met with Teresa Woolson, founder of the Victor Orlando Woolson Foundation. VOW will host its fifth annual informational educational outreach fair on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center at 26 E. First St. in Oswego.
Any residents of Oswego that would like to make their food dollars go farther may order May Food Sense packages until noon on May 11. All Oswego area residents may use the program.
Members of the Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee presented Debbie Bishop, executive director of Friends of Oswego County Hospice, a proclamation in appreciation of her dedication to the Hospice program at the Legislature’s April 12 meeting.
At the monthly meeting on March 21, the Oswego County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) group held its annual SKYWARN spotter training. Oswego County SKYWARN coordinator Keith Hook, KD2NQL, introduced Jon Hitchcock, senior forecaster of the National Weather Service of the Buffalo office along with Mike Fries, warning coordination meteorologist.
