“This is the 40th railcar we received since January,” William Scriber, acting executive director of the Port of Oswego Authority, told Oswego County Today. “We basically had no railcars the two previous years. We are aggressively going at increasing our aluminum at the port.”

The Oswego County Department of Social Services reported 105 cases of people whose applications for public assistance were either denied or withdrawn in 2017. This resulted in $1.1 million in savings of avoided benefits costs for county taxpayers. These cases involved attempts by people to collect benefits that they weren’t eligible for.
Units arrived to active fire on the exterior of the house and a smoke and fire condition on the interior. There were no injuries reported. One of the family’s pets did not survive the incident. The fire is still under investigation.
The Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council will honor area emergency medical services providers for their outstanding patient care during its annual awards banquet on May 18 at the Oasis at Thunder Island, 21 Wilcox Road, Fulton. SUNY Oswego music faculty members, alumnae and twins Evangeline and Elizabeth Canfield will perform four-hand piano duets in a Focus on Faculty concert at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The Duo Canfield concert is free and open to the public.
State Senator Patty Ritchie and Oswego Health are offering an opportunity for community members to safely dispose of their unused and unwanted medications, including prescription and narcotic medicines, during a drug take back day. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 25 in the lobby of Oswego Hospital.
