A spirit of collaboration led to SUNY Oswego’s creative writing, chemistry and cinema and screen studies programs working together to create a series of short films on laboratory safety. A 2017 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Humanities Collaboratory workshop — where faculty members could speak with each other about their cross-discipline research and project needs — served as the catalyst.
Two distinguished alumni of SUNY Oswego, Christene Barberich, global editor-in-chief and a co-founder of award-winning lifestyle media company Refinery 29, and Robert E. (Bob) Moritz, global chairman of PwC, will receive honorary doctoral degrees on May 12, at SUNY Oswego’s 157th Commencement.
Those honored play various roles and contribute in different ways to creating a positive campus-life environment.
This May, the Oswego Players is reintroducing the Don McCann Memorial Play writing contest after a hiatus of a number of years. The play writing contest committee chair, Norman Berlin III, announced that the contest will begin on May 15 with June 15 as the deadline for submissions.
The North Country Quilting Guild is bringing noted quilting instructor Julie Burger to Watertown to offer a workshop and trunk show on May 22. Burger is a certified Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx instructor, trained at the Quiltworx studios in Kalispell, Montana.
