Oswego High School Class of 2018 Told: ‘Dream Small’

“To dream small requires us to suppress the need to always look ahead. It feels very counterintuitive, especially at this stage in our lives. But, dreaming small is to consciously decide to value immediate moments as they occur, so you can glean the most from them,” explained salutatorian Danielle DelConte said. “However, allowing yourself to be consumed by the pursuit of a big dream often means missing out on life as it is meant to be experienced.”

Former Fulton City School District student Norman Smith has waited his entire 93.5 years of life to fulfill a dream: graduating high school. FCSD Superintendent Brian Pulvino and G. Ray Bodley High School Principal Donna Parkhurst were proud to present Smith with an honorary diploma the day before GRB’s very own graduation.

Most people know that the Queen Mary was a luxury ocean liner, but forget the important role she played during World War II. The grand ship was converted to a war ship and painted navy grey. The stateroom furniture and decorations were removed and refitted with triple-tiered bunks. The crystal, paintings, and other valuables were put in storage and the fancy woodwork was covered in leather. The Queen Mary became the largest and fastest troopship involved in the war carrying as many as 16,000 men in a single voyage.
