Tree Lighting Ceremony To Offer Ice Sculpting Specials

The theme for this year’s Oswego Christmas Tree ceremony is “Ice Sculpting.” This will be done by the Ice Farm of Syracuse. They are taking orders from individuals or businesses who would like to have an ice sculpture displayed at Civic Plaza during the city’s tree lighting event on December 1.

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – What To Do About Feline’s Nocturnal Shenanigans

A few weeks ago, we adopted a kitten. We already had two dogs who were, to put it kindly, clueless about cats and sort of rowdy. So we went though the long process of introducing Schrodinger (“Schrodinger’s cat,” get it?) to the two dogs very very very carefully. The bottom line is that it worked and now Schro amuses herself by chasing the dogs around the house and they are fascinated by her. She basically sleeps all day while we are all gone and then she does her chasing and playing in the middle of the night.

Bassist Danny Ziemann To Return With Oswego Jazz Project in Sept. 23 Concert

The Oswego Jazz Project, a combo of four professional musicians on SUNY Oswego’s music faculty, will mark the return of accomplished bassist Danny Ziemann in concert at 3 p.m. Sept. 23, in Sheldon Hall ballroom. The school year’s first Focus on Faculty concert will explore the growth of jazz through different eras, featuring Robert Auler on piano, Eric Schmitz on drums, Trevor Jorgensen on saxophone and Ziemann on bass.

Phoenix Senior Ripley Earns Accolades For Music Talents

Birdlebough High School senior Olivia Ripley’s dedication to her music studies recently garnered statewide recognition. She earned a perfect score on both her trumpet and voice auditions at last spring’s New York State School Music Association’s Solo Festival, and recently earned a spot in this year’s NYSSMA All-Conference Symphonic Band.
