Kenneth L. Burns, 78, of Hannibal, passed away Saturday February 3, 2018, at University Hospital, Syracuse.
More than 500 lab-confirmed cases of the flu have been reported in Oswego County this year. The week of Jan. 29 saw a 57 percent increase in the number of reported cases of flu, compared to the previous week. Regional hospitals have reported that two older Oswego County residents have died from complications from the flu. Both individuals had been vaccinated for the flu and had other health complications. A third resident, who had not been vaccinated, is hospitalized in critical condition.
Recently Fulton Block Builder (FBB) volunteers sat down to meet with the Oswego Renaissance Association founders Paul Stewart and Steve Phillips. FBB volunteers came with a list of questions for Paul and Steve, who graciously took time to answer each one. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and FBB administrative director Linda Eagan and the FBB volunteers are anxious to imitate ORA’s achievements. The Fulton Block Builders 2018 season has begun with huge support and interest.

Excitement is building for one of Oswego’s most anticipated events, the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County Annual Wing Fest. Hosted by the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, East First Street in Oswego, the CAC Wing Fest gets under way this Friday, February 9, at 5 p.m. with an Attitude Adjustment Hour followed by the main event beginning at 6 p.m.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the Oswego Kiwanis Club will host a Kids Paint and Pizza Night at Lombardo’s Bridie Manor at 6:30 p.m. March 9. The event is geared for kids ages 3 to 12 and is open to the first 35 children to register.
The Oswego Players will host auditions for the comedy “An Act of God,” by David Javerbaum, on February 18 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Frances Marion Brown Theater in Oswego. The auditions, for a cast of three, are open to adult men and women 35 +, who will be asked to read from script.
