Director Hilari Scarl (center) and deaf entertainer CJ Jones (top left) will be on hand for the Syracuse debut of their film, “See What I’m Saying,” a documentary following four deaf entertainers. The event is co-sponsored by Empire Interpreting Service (EIS). Prior to the showing of the movie, professional theater workshops are also planned – April 16-17. “The film had its Hollywood debut on March 18” said Theresa Slater, EIS President/CEO. “More than 30 million deaf people reside in the United States. This population has extremely few opportunities to enjoy theatrical films at a movie theater. ‘See What I’m Saying’ is a source of emotional pride within the deaf community and is the first ever open captioned film in wide commercial release in American cinema history.”
