Heather Sturges, (left), outreach specialist for Oswego County Opportunities Crisis and Development Services, was guest speaker at the Sept. 8 Fulton Lions Club meeting. James Sokolowski, Fulton club president, (right) thanks Sturges for her presentation. Sturges spoke about Playing For Poverty, a fund raising event whose mission is to raise awareness about poverty in Oswego County and homeless youth. The event, held Aug. 6 at the Fulton War Memorial, featured successive rock band performances. The Fulton Lions club provided food sales with all event proceeds going to Oswego County food pantries. The Fulton club, with 60 members, is the largest and most active in their district. Lions clubs are committed to sight and hearing preservation. The Fulton Lions Club, also know for their Lions Loot Sweepstakes and Labor Day Duck Derby, provides financial assistance for those in need of eyeglasses, eye exams and hearing aids to residents in the Greater Fulton area.
