Hot Racing Nights Continue At Fulton Speedway, July 21

The racing action has been as hot as the weather at the Fulton Speedway. Last week there were last lap passes for wins and feature winners winning by less the one-second at the finish. This Saturday, July 21, the side-by-side racing just inches apart will continue when marketing partner Ingles Performance presents a night of fast, family affordable racing thrills.

Mars Viewing At Rice Creek To Feature New Start Time

Weather permitting, there will now be an indoor lecture each night at 10:30 p.m. and, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., opportunities to observe through multiple telescopes Mars in Opposition — its closest proximity to Earth since 2003 — and at least two other planets, Jupiter and Saturn.

Director Derek Potocki is offering “Bullets for Broadway” by David Landau this October and once again Theatre Du Jour is calling all thespians. If you enjoy a good farce / murder mystery role – they are gunning for you. Residents Are Reminded to Diligently Check for Ticks after Being Outside

In Oswego County, we have seen increased cases of Lyme disease in the past several years. As summer is here and schools are on vacation, people, especially children, will be involved in more outdoor activities. I would like to remind residents to diligently practice tick checks for preventing Lyme disease from ticks. Lyme disease is a bacterial disease transmitted through the saliva of an infected deer tick.

Oswego County Honors Winning Photo Entries

The Oswego County Promotion and Tourism Office recently hosted a reception to honor the winners of the Oswego County Visitors Guide Photo Contest. Recipients and guests mingled over light refreshments while they viewed a display of their winning photographs.

"WIngs" by Angela Arrey-Wastavino has been recreated into an 8'x12' aluminum mural designed to show motion and move with the wind by CNY Arts Center Mural creator Leslie Paice. The "Art in the Wind" mural has been donated to the county and hangs on the south end of the County Building in Fulton.

Art in the Wind Mural Finally Takes Flight

CNY Arts Center is excited to announce its next community mural project has been completed and found a permanent home. “Art in the Wind,” an aluminum mural designed to move and show motion has been gifted to the Oswego County Legislature and has been hung on the County Building in Fulton.

Cayuga Professor Wins Award For Novel About Historic Adirondack Family

Associate Professor Sheila Myers received the 2017 Best Book of Fiction Literary Award from the Adirondack Center for Writing for her novel “The Night is Done: A Durant Family Saga,” which was the third book in a trilogy Myers wrote about the historic Durant family, their business ventures, and their connection to the Adirondacks.
