Presented annually, the OCO’s Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award recognizes a staff member who has made outstanding contributions to OCO and the Human Services profession. The award is given in the memory of Amelia Whelahan, a dedicated and committed member of the Oswego County Opportunities family for many years.

Calista Hutchinson from West Monroe was named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven for the spring 2012 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

With this year’s unusual winter and early spring, the Oswego County Health Department is reminding people they need to be extra vigilant to protect against mosquito-borne diseases such as Eastern equine encephalitis and West Nile Virus. These viral infections can cause serious illness such as severe headache, high fever, disorientation, seizures, brain swelling or, in some cases, death.

The following local residents were among nearly 570 undergraduate students from Nazareth College who received undergraduate degrees during the College’s 85th Commencement Exercises held on May 12.
