State Parcels Out Economic Stimulus

In February, our state was awarded $24.6 billion as a result of the federal Economic Stimulus Package. The amount of stimulus money was unprecedented and was intended to be used to jump-start the struggling economy. As sanctioned by federal law, the state created its own Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Cabinet. This cabinet serves as a hub for which the funding is channeled. It’s also where universities, counties, cities, and, some cases, businesses and non-profits, may apply for stimulus funding.

Step One Creative Summer Scramble Posts Record Turnout

<p>Farnham Family Services was the recipient of a $540 donation recently from Step One Creative, as part of the advertising firm's sponsorship of the annual Summer Scramble. At a recent check presentation outside of the Step One Creative offices are from left to right are: Mark Proud, creative director at Step One Creative; Ed Fayette, Summer Scramble tournament director; Jeanne Unger, executive director at Farnham Family Services; and Shane Stepien, president of Step One Creative.</p>

The Oswego Country Club held its annual Summer Scramble on June 29, with a record number of participants, according to tournament director Ed Fayette. The event was sponsored by Step One Creative, who announced that as part of its sponsorship of the event, a portion of each of the players’ registration fee would go Farnham Family Services.

Fulton Savings Will Close River Glen Mall Branch, The Latest To Leave

<p>The Fulton Savings Bank branch at River Glen Mall, which will close in mid-December.</p>

Yet another business is pulling out of the half-empty River Glen Mall.

Fulton Savings Bank will close its 15-year-old branch at the Route 481 shopping center on December 18.  No employees will lose their jobs, according to the bank’s CEO, Mike Pollock.  The bank’s lease expires not long after the closing.
