Albrecht Named to President’s List at Western New England College

Donald S. Albrecht of Mexico, NY, has been named to the President’s List at Western New England College for the spring semester of 2009. Albrecht is a Junior majoring in Sport Management at the College. Students are named to the President’s List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.80 or higher.

Every year, students with established outstanding academic records are honored by the dean of each college. To qualify for the Dean’s List in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, one must be a matriculated full-time student and earn a semester grade point average of 3.5.

Jennifer Gorea, a resident of Fulton, NY, has been named to the Spring 2009 Champlain College’s Dean”s List for academic achievements. Gorea is majoring in Social Work. Students named to the Dean’s List are full-time students with a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or more. President’s List honors are for a grade-point average of 4.0. Trustees Scholar students are students on the President’s List for two consecutive semesters.

EEE Found In Bird-Biting Mosquitoes In West Monroe

Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Public Health Director of the Oswego County Health Department, said this morning (July 13), that the Eastern equine encephalitis virus was found in a pool of mosquitoes collected on Toad Harbor Road in West Monroe. The virus has only been found in the type of mosquitoes that bite birds, not in mosquitoes that feed on humans.
